What’s the Ideal Length for a Steroid Cycle?

The right steroid cycle length can offer maximum efficiency and help you reach your desired results.

However, most steroid cycles have been developed by individuals, so it can be hard to know exactly how long you’re to allow your steroid cycles to last.

We’ve got you covered. Keep reading to find out the ideal steroid cycle, once and for all!

What Is A Steroid Cycle?

A steroid cycle is a sequence of cycles and dosages of anabolic steroids that give the greatest benefit.

Anabolic steroid cycles are used for the following three purposes:

  • improve mass and strength
  • promote a harder and leaner physique
  • improve athletic performance

Steroid cycles have generally ranged from being as short as four weeks and lasting as long as up to many months.

The Ideal Length For A Steroid Cycle

Always keep your steroid cycle short.

Why? Because long steroid cycles can cause an array of problems. This is why a steroid cycle should not last beyond 4 weeks.

The ideal steroid cycle duration should be two or three weeks.

However, keep in mind that some steroids need to be used much longer than others, as their initial activity can take many weeks to come to fruition.

Why Keep Your Steroid Cycle Short?

The number one reason of why you should keep your steroid cycle short is because of the side effects that are associated with long steroid cycles.

Here’s what can negatively change during a steroid cycle and are reasons to keep your cycles short:

Your Lipid Profile

First, there will be a drastic shift in your lipid profile. A lipid profile, or lipid panel, is a panel of blood tests that serve as an initial broad medical screening tool for abnormalities in lipids. These abnormalities can include issues with things such as cholesterol and triglycerides.

On your steroid cycle, your levels of the good cholesterol known as HDL will come down. Meanwhile, the level of the bad cholesterol known as LDL will go up. This means your chance of heart disease can be heightened.

Hormone Production

Next, as the steroid cycle progresses, the body’s own production of hormones slow down. These hormones, such as Follicle Stimulating Hormone, Luteinizing Hormone, and Testosterone will eventually shut down altogether.

However, a fairly high level of estrogen will remain from the aromatization of Testosterone. Additionally, you will be left with a normal level of Cortisone as well.

Cortisone is an anti-stress hormone, which has a catabolic effect on muscle mass that is usually suppressed by Testosterone.

When adequate amounts of Testosterone are not present, Cortisone begins to liquidate the muscle mass that you might have developed through the use of an anabolic steroid.

Natural Testosterone

The longer your steroid cycle lasts means the longer will be the time that it will take for your body to renew its production of natural Testosterone.

A eutrophication of the Leydig cells of the testes can be one of the steroid side effects of long-term use. When the steroid cycle ends, these cells aren’t able to restart the production of Testosterone immediately, since they have become desensitized at this point to the effect of the gonadotrophins.

The good news is, they will respond and the body will kick start its production of Testosterone. However, the bad news is that you will have been through a lot of discomforts by that point.

This is the reason why post-cycle therapy is a must after the end of a steroid cycle.

What Dose Should You Go For During A Steroid Cycle?

During your cycle, opt for the lowest effective dose of the anabolic steroid that you’re taking.

The lower the dose, the lower your chance of developing side effects.

However, you don’t want the dose to be so low that you aren’t seeing the results that you want. This is why you want to go for the minimum effective dose.

A minimum effective dose is the lowest possible dose that will give you the desired effect.

Why Stick To The Lowest Effective Dose?

When on a steroid cycle, most individuals intensify their training. The frequency of training also increases compared to their off-cycle.

Along with the increased likelihood that they will follow a good diet, these are factors that are also responsible for a gain in mass.

Anabolic steroids certainly play a part, however, exercise and a proper diet are also imperative to gain mass.

This means that first, you’ll want to make progress with a small dose. Grow into the dose and then increase it by the barest minimum. This will improve results.

You might have to take the minimum dose for a few cycles at least. However, avoid the mistakes of many first-time anabolic steroid users.

Many first time users make these two mistakes:

  1. They will erroneously assume that the steroids are wholly responsible for their gains and will, therefore, increase their intake to get more results.
  2. They will start with 500mg per week dose, increase it to 700mg the second week, to 1000mg the third week and so one—this is not only not necessary, but also very unhealthy.

How To Plan Your Steroid Cycle

1. Before beginning your steroid cycle you must decide what you want to achieve from it.

You may want to add bulk so that you can enter a higher weight division. Perhaps you’re looking to gain more lean mass or strength in order to play a sport. Or, maybe you just want to reduce your body fat so that you can add more definition to your body.

2. After deciding on what it is you want to get out of the cycle, you must now choose the steroid that you want to use.

It’s a good idea to keep your first cycle as simple as you can.

The first cycle should be a Testosterone-only cycle. Follow this rule because since Testosterone is naturally produced by the body, the chances that you will suffer from side effects is much lower.

3. Next, it is time to decide which type of Testosterone to use.

Your options include Testosterone Cypionate, Testosterone Propionate, Testosterone Enanthate, and even some blends.

The compounds are basically the same. The only difference is that in the number of carbon atoms in the ester chain.

Once you inject one of these esterified compounds, it will get deposited in the muscle. From there, it will be released into the body slowly.

If you’re looking for steroids for beginners, you would want to start with a steroid that would not have to be taken so frequently. In that case, Testosterone Cypionate or Enanthate would be a good choice for you.
